Guide: 6 Ways to Earn EVA Air Infinity MileageLands Miles
Want to book Singapore Airlines business class flights with up to 26% fewer miles? You will need EVA Air Infinity MileageLands (IML) miles.
Booking Singapore Airlines flights through EVA Air IML has been one of the best hacks I’ve used to save lots of miles over the past 1.5 years. Across 7 flights, I have saved more than 160,000 miles which is enough for a return flight to Europe in business class.
However, it can be more difficult to earn IML miles than it is to earn KrisFlyer ones, so here is a guide on how you can get more of such miles to book cheaper business class flights.
Use your points wisely
You might already have points that can go to EVA Air IML. Currently, there are 5 types of currencies that can go to IML:
| Points | Remarks |
|---|---|
Amex Membership Rewards Points | Directly transferrable |
Citi Miles or ThankYou Points | Directly transferrable |
HeyMax Max Miles | Directly transferrable |
![]() HSBC Rewards Points | Directly transferrable |
yuu Points | Transfer to HeyMax, then transfer to IML |
If you have these points, you should probably think twice before transferring them to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer because they can be transferred to EVA Air IML for better redemption rates on popular routes like Europe, US, and Japan/Korea.

Prioritise these cards for your spend
To earn more IML miles, you should thus use cards that can earn you more points from the above 5 currencies.
Here are the highest earning cards that can earn you those points:
| Card to use | Earn rate | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
![]() HSBC Revolution | 4 miles per dollar 8 miles per dollar (with S$50,000 balance) | Contactless or online transactions on eligible MCCs |
![]() Citi Rewards | 4 miles per dollar | In-person transactions via Amaze or online transactions |
![]() DBS yuu Card | 2.78 miles per dollar (no min spend) 10 miles per dollar (S$800 min spend) | yuu Partners like foodpanda, Singtel, Giant etc. |
Previously, it was quite difficult to earn significant amount of IML miles because there were very few high-earn cards that earned points transferrable to IML.
Things have changed significantly over the past year because HSBC Revolution has become one of the best miles cards we have in the market, and yuu Rewards Club added Max Miles conversions which allows for yuu points to be transferred into EVA Air.
Other cards that can be considered depending on the situation:
| Card to use | Earn rate | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
![]() Trust Freedom Card | 1.3 Max Miles per dollar | 0 forex fee travel card For hospital bills |
![]() Chocolate Card | 1 Max Mile per dollar | 0 forex fee travel card For commonly excluded transactions like utilities, insurance etc. |
Use sign-up promos
Sign-up promos are a great way to get a bunch of miles quickly, and it‘s something you should definitely take advantage of if you are able to qualify. Below are the current promos where you can earn points that are transferrable to IML, and you can tap each card/bank logo to be taken to the promo:
| Card | Offer |
|---|---|
![]() Trust Freedom Card | New Cardholders 20,000 to 100,000 Max Miles |
![]() Citi Prestige | New or Existing Cardholders 112,500 to 162,500 ThankYou Points (45,000 to 65,000 IML miles) |
![]() HSBC Cards | New Cardholders 28,000 Max Miles |
Citi Cards | New Cardholders 25,000 Max Miles |
OCBC Cards | New Cardholders 25,000 Max Miles |
![]() HSBC TravelOne | New Cardholders 50,000 HSBC Points (20,000 IML miles) Existing Cardholder 25,000 HSBC Points (10,000 IML miles) |
DBS Cards | New Cardholders 18,000 Max Miles |
Use HeyMax First
While not technically a method to earn IML miles, if you do need the miles urgently but do not have enough credit card points to transfer (or waiting for a sign-up reward to be credited), HeyMax First is another interesting option.
HeyMax First essentially gives you access to a pool of Max Miles upfront, which can subsequently be transferred directly to EVA Air Infinity MileageLands. You pay a fee for the miles, which are then reimbursed once you have earned back sufficient Max Miles.
Use payment services like CardUp
Payment services like CardUp can also be used to essentially buy miles when you pay your bills. This can make sense if you buy it a sufficiently low cost per mile.
Credit flights to EVA Air
When you fly with Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airways, or other Star Alliance flights, you can also choose to credit miles to your EVA Air IML account. For instance, if you fly on a Singapore Airlines flight, you can enter your IML number for your flight to get miles credited to your IML instead of KrisFlyer.
Refer to this table to see the accrual rate:
| Fare Class | IML Miles | KrisFlyer Miles |
|---|---|---|
| First A/F | 150% | 200% |
| Business C/J/Z | 125% | 150% |
| Business D/U | 125% | 125% |
| Premium Econ S/T | 110% | 125% |
| Premium Econ P/R | 100% | 100% |
| Premium Econ L | 0% | 100% |
| Economy B/E/Y | 100% | 100% |
| Economy M/H/W | 75% | 75% |
| Economy K/N/Q/V/G | 0% | 50% |
You should definitely check the fare class of the ticket you are booking to see if it is a good idea to credit miles to IML instead of your KrisFlyer account.
Buy from EVA Air (though not recommended)
You can also buy IML miles directly from EVA Air. The normal price is US$40 per 1,000 miles, or a very expensive US 4 cents per mile. Each member can purchase or top up a maximum of 150,000 miles per calendar year and purchased miles are valid for 36 months from the date of purchase.
EVA Air occasionally runs sales which make the numbers much more attractive. At the time of writing, purchases from 22nd September to 8th October 2026 receive discounts of up to 40%, bringing the best price down to US$24 per 1,000 miles, or US 2.4 cents per mile. This is still very pricey, though it could potentially make sense if you have already found a business class redemption and only need to bridge a relatively small amount to make your booking.
There is one very important restriction, however: purchased or topped-up miles cannot account for more than 50% of the miles required for a redemption. This means that if an award ticket requires 75,000 miles, you cannot just buy all 75,000 miles from EVA Air. Only a maximum of 37,500 of the miles used can come from purchased or topped-up miles. Purchased miles also cannot be combined with miles transferred to you from another Infinity MileageLands member.
