Best Cashback and Miles Cards For General Spending

While there are cards that excel in specific spending categories, you might not want the hassle of keeping track of which card to use for which type of spend, especially if your expenses are spread across a wide range of categories.

In this article are cards that work on a blacklist basis which means that aside from the usual excluded transactions, these cards should earn rewards on most types of spending with as few conditions as possible.

  1. Advertised rate can be quite misleading. A high cashback rate can be watered down due to a low sub-limit and minimum spend.

My Pick

UOB Preferred Platinum Visa is probably the easiest 4 miles per dollar card to use because you can just pay with your phone anywhere that accepts contactless payment and get 4 miles per dollar. Its range of online transactions is limited to a list of MCCs but should reasonably give you 4 miles per dollar for many types of online spend. For bigger spenders, UOB Visa Signature is another fuss-free card that works pretty similarly. See their differences here.

Fuss-free Cashback Cards

If you want cashback cards that have no minimum spend requirements, you will have to settle for lower earn rates. Aside from a couple of cards, the below options have no maximum cashback cap too.

Commonly excluded transactions

While blacklist cards give their rewards for anything that is not found in their exclusions, note that almost all of them have a list of commonly excluded transactions such as e-wallet top-ups, insurance, and utilities.

You can see the following article for cards that have almost no exclusions:
