Hitting the gym to get in shape? Use these cards so that your wallet doesn’t lose too much weight.
Cards that specifically include MCC 7997
Gyms and fitness memberships tend to code as Merchant Category Code (MCC) 7997. A few cards specifically support this MCC:

Cards for general spending
Aside from the cards above, you should also be able to count on cards for general spending.
Make sure you meet the requirements in order to get the earn rate. For instance, Citi SMRT and DBS Woman’s World Mastercard require your gym membership to be paid online.
Note that while UOB Preferred Platinum Visa should have no issue getting 4 miles per dollar via mobile contactless payments at gyms, check that your gym’s MCC falls under its list of eligible transactions.

- Advertised rate can be quite misleading. A high cashback rate can be watered down due to a low sub-limit and minimum spend.

MCC and recurring transactions by gym
Different gyms can have different MCCs, and some of their recurring transactions may not code as online transactions.
Based on some searching online, this is what I could gather (please note this is based on online anecdotes so it may not be 100% accurate):
