Another sound of the death knell for credit card rewards for topping up Grab, I’m guessing, as Grab is starting to market rewards for topping up via PayNow:
My advice? Don’t bother. 1,000 GrabRewards Points are worth $2, and at $300 for 1,000 points, that’s a mere 0.67% rebate. Funnily enough, your best yield is topping up $100 to get 400 points, which is a 0.8% rebate on $100…
Here’s what you’ll get if you topped up $300 using cards that still gave you a proper earn rate on cashback or miles:
|Card||Earn Rate||Rewards Received|
|Amex True Cashback||1.5%||$4.50|
|DBS Altitude||1.2 mpd||360 miles|
|CitiRewards Visa||4 mpd||1200 miles|
Of course, these are “while stocks last”, and we all await with bated breath whether these rewards would continue. Speaking of which, I just topped up $2,000 into my Grab account with UOB One for the last time for 10% cashback. I’m going to miss this earn rate.
