Grab Power Up Challenge December 2021

December represents the last Grab Power Up Challenge for the year!

I did not receive a Challenge this time, and it’s ostensibly because my annual spending limit is almost reached:

This message pops up on your Payment tab when you reach 75%

I’m not alone on this as quite a few people have reported not receiving a Challenge this month, although others have said they did even when their spending limit is almost reached. It’s rather unfortunate as I had planned to clock my challenge across this month and January of the new year once my spend limit is reset.

Earn rates

Changes: no discernible change

$1002,500 points$55%
$2505,000 points$104%
$5007,500 points$153%

$1,00012,000 points$242.4%
$1,50015,000 points$302%
$2,00020,000 points$402%

These are on top of your base Grab earn rate, which range from between 3 to 6 points per dollar spent (0.6 to 1.2% rebate). Grab points can be boosted with things like SP GreenUP and waiting for sales.

You also get 1.5% or 1.7% cashback when you top up with certain cards (see below).

This means your total earn rate can be as high as 7.9% (5% Power Up rebate + 1.2% base rebate + 1.7% top-up cashback).

Stacking with other promos

You can, as with previous months, stack this promo with GrabPay Accelerator that gives bonus 4 points per dollar spent on groceries, fitness memberships, streaming services, software, app, e-book purchases, dining/takeaway meals, and telcos.

More notably, if your transaction is online, you can stack it with the rather generous Christmas Booster Grab is giving daily until Christmas Day itself which gives as much as 50 bonus points per dollar spent. This month’s Grab challenge is particularly rewarding because of these additional points represent at least 10% rebate on top of the earn rates above.

Last promos of 2021?

Grab’s email in October forecasted the boosters for the rest of 2021, and it seems likely that this Power Up Challenge and Christmas Booster would be the last couple of promos for this year.
