30,000 Bonus Miles: Sign-up Offer For Citi PremierMiles

If you don’t have an existing Citi credit card and have not cancelled any in the past 12 months, you can get 30,000 bonus miles with this offer. All you have to do is to sign up for Citi PremierMiles, pay the annual fee of S$194.40, and make a minimum spend of S$800 within the first two months.

💳 A new Citi cardholder refers to those who do not currently have a principal Citi credit card, and have not cancelled any in the past 12 months. Please read terms and conditions while applying.

Buying miles at 0.648 cents each

Paying S$194.40 for 30,000 bonus miles is akin to buying each mile at 0.648 cents each. This is a fantastic price to pay per mile. Even when used in a suboptimal manner, each mile can fetch 0.95 cents when you use them to buy tickets on Singapore Air or Scoot as if you were paying with cash.

When used efficiently, miles can be worth over 1 cent each. People willing to pay the ticket prices for business class flights can even get a value of 2-3 cents per mile they get.

Meeting the minimum spend easily

The S$800 must be spent within the qualifying period which is defined as the month of card approval plus two months after that. Applying in early April would mean you have until the end of June to make the spend on eligible transactions.

Eligible transactions are defined in the terms and conditions, but the general gist is that you should clock the amount via retail spend i.e. dining, shopping etc. Grab top-ups, for instance, will not be considered for the sign-up promo requirement, nor does it earn miles with the Citi PremierMiles card.

There is a really easy way to meet the spend requirement, and that is to use Citi PayAll service. Citi PayAll allows you to charge your Citi credit card and pay to anyone or any company as long as you have their bank account number. You have two choices when it comes to Citi PayAll: a fee-paying option where you pay a 2.2% fee and earn miles with your Citi PremierMiles, or a free option where you don’t pay any fee and do not get miles with the card. Note that the free option will not count towards the minimum spending required.

Stack with Citi PayAll promo

When you pay the service fee, Citi PayAll will qualify for the minimum spend required for this sign-up promo which means you can easily pay a person or company and quickly be done with the S$800 minimum spend. Think bills, insurance, or even “travel expenses” which is an option in the service.

The normal earn rate of Citi PremierMiles is 1.2 miles per dollar and paying 2.2% is buying miles at 1.83 cents each. There is a current promo that boosts the earn rate to 2.2 miles until 20th August 2023, making it a far more attractive deal.

Alternate promo

Citi has alternate promos that allow you to get S$300 of cashback. This is given on cards like Citi Cash Back and Citi SMRT. I have written a post on the Citi SMRT card, and will follow soon with one on the Citi Cash Back card:
