Miles Sale: Buy Avios Points at 40% Discount With Finnair Plus
Until 2nd November 2025, it is possible to purchase Avios points at a 40% discount when bought through Finnair Plus, making the effective cost per mile 1.90¢. While this is not look like the most attractive of deals, there is still some good value possible here.
The thing is… you probably can’t qualify unless you already have a Finnair Plus account, but I’m highlighting this promo mainly so that readers can prepare for future ones.
Requirements
Only Finnair Plus accounts opened before 24th October 2025 qualify, and there needs to be a minimum of 100 Avios points in the account for the discount to be applied.
This means that if you don’t already have a Finnair Plus account, you will not be able to enjoy this promo. It also means that you should open an account now (for free) if you wish to participate in future promos.

Cost per mile depends on the number of miles bought
Finnair Plus sells Avios miles anywhere between 0.021 € to 0.027 €, with the rates getting cheaper when more points bought. Similarly, the discount is tiered from 25% to 40% depending on how many miles you are buying.
Buying at least 100,000 Avios points will get you the cheapest cost per mile of 1.90¢ (converted into SGD). The maximum miles purchasable each calendar year is 200,000 per member.

Is buying miles at 1.90¢ each good?
While 1.90¢ may seem like a steep price to pay for each mile, we have to understand also that the value of miles can differ greatly depending the frequent flyer programme we are talking about.
Here are a few ways we can redeem miles for one-way business class flights to Europe:

At 1.90¢ per mile, we are able to get a one-way direct flight to Finland via Finnair at around S$1,407.50 (62,500 × 1.9¢ + S$220). Because the number of miles required is just 62,500, your flight is still of a reasonable price even though your cost per mile is high.
Just for comparison’s sake, flying to Europe via Singapore Airlines at a cost of S$1,407.50 means that you need to buy each KrisFlyer mile at around 1.29¢ ([S$1,407.50 – S$70] ÷ 103,500) which isn’t too bad a cost to pay per mile.
We are, of course, comparing two different business class products with some preferring Singapore Airlines and willing to put a premium on that. I’ve personally booked myself a flight via Finnair using the Avios miles I got from the recent Avios transfer bonus, so stay subscribed for a full review when that trip happens.
Koh Samui is another good redemption
Avios miles also allow you to book flights to Koh Samui via Bangkok Airways for as low as 12,000 miles for a return trip in Economy Class when you book through Qatar Privilege Club. With slightly less than S$100 in fees and taxes, buying each mile at 1.90¢ means that this return flight would cost just S$328, which can even be cheaper than Scoot even though this is a full-service flight!

Avios can give you very good value
While I recognise that many wouldn’t qualify for this promo this time because they don’t have a Finnair Plus account yet, I think it is worth it to sign up for one now so that you can qualify for future promos. Last year, Finnair even offered a 50% discount, and with the more favourable exchange rate back then the cost per mile was just 1.50¢.
Aside from Finnair, Qatar Airways and British Airways do have the occasional sale for Avios, though like Finnair they tend to exclude new accounts from participating. It may be worth opening frequent flyer programme accounts (for free) with all three airlines to take advantage of any future promos.
