Great Deal: Get 50,000 Bonus Miles With Citi Prestige

Extended: until 30th September 2024

Citi Prestige has a new deal: get 125,000 ThankYou points (or 50,000 bonus miles) when you apply, pay the annual fee and meet the spend requirement. This works even for existing Citi cardholders, so you can still enjoy this promo if you have other cards from the bank. In fact, if you don’t have an existing Citi card, you should definitely sign up for one first before getting the Citi Prestige card to stack both offers.

Complimentary hotel nights, unlimited lounge access, and limousine service. Annual requirement of S$120,000 (fairly flexible and up to the bank’s discretion). Read the review here and an analysis if the promo is worth it

Evaluating the promo

While the Citi Prestige card requires an annual fee payment of S$545, you’d find it well worth the price of admission for both the sign-up promo and its ongoing features.

When it comes to the sign-up promo, getting 50,000 bonus miles for S$545 is buying each mile at 1.09 cents each. Another way to look at it would be to price the miles according to your valuation of a mile. I value each mile at around 1.25 cents, so 50,000 miles is worth S$625 which is higher than the cost of the annual fee.

The current promo’s headline “50,000 miles” is lower than the one before, though the spending requirement has been simplified to just S$2,000 without a need to spend on foreign currency transaction. This means that you can clock the spend entirely with Citi PayAll transactions which is a fuss-free way of meeting the sign-up requirements by paying your bills, family, friends with benefits etc. Take a look at my Citi PayAll guide for more info on the payment service.

Personally, I much prefer the current promo since there is no foreign currency spend requirement and those who can’t clock that would also appreciate the simpler requirements.

Useful card benefits

Even without a sign-up bonus, I have renewed my Citi Prestige quite readily after doing some calculation of its benefits versus the S$545 annual fee. Between the free hotel nights, limo rides and lounge visits, the benefits outweigh the cost. I have written a bit about the perks over the couple of years I’ve had it so it should come in useful in your decision:

Also, given airport transfer rides and relationship bonus, the Citi Prestige is the best card to use for Citi PayAll which I described in my guide. The payment service and its pretty frequent promos have helped me clock hundreds of thousands of miles on my Citi Prestige card alone.

A great card to consider even for casual travelers

Given the sign-up rewards and benefits, the card is a very worthy addition to anyone who travels at least once or twice in a year. There is an annual requirement of S$120,000 which is entirely up to the bank’s discretion, so one can always try their luck applying even if there income requirement is not met.
