Ending Soon: Compare Between S$388 Cashback or 85,000 Miles With DBS Cards; Existing Users Get Rewards Too!
DBS has been running very generous sign-up gifts since early 2024 – get as much as S$388 cashback or 85,000 miles when you sign up for eligible credit cards! Already have a DBS or POSB card? There are also promos for you!
While most campaigns often last for weeks or so, the timeframe for the current bunch of DBS promos stretched for about 4 to 5 months. There was plenty of time to procrastinate back then, but there’s only less than 2 week to 15th July 2024 which is the last date to enjoy the current offers.

Here are the list of promos that you can apply for:

There are quite a few choices, so below are my picks if I were to choose.
Comparing the New Cardholder gifts
New cardholders are able to pick between the three promos:
- S$388 cashback offer with DBS yuu (and the other cashback cards)
- 43,400 miles with DBS Altitude
- 85,000 miles with DBS Vantage (annual income requirement of S$120,000)
For cashback people: easy choice
There really isn’t much of a dilemma here, so just pick the DBS yuu offer.

DBS yuu Card
DBS yuu Card is an excellent card that gives up to 18% cash rebates or 10 miles per dollar (in conjunction with the yuu app)

For Team Value people: depends on minimum spend
If we were to compare between the S$388 promo with DBS yuu and 43,400 miles offer with DBS Altitude, DBS Altitude gives an overall bigger value. 43,400 at a relatively reasonable 1 to 1.25 cents per mile valuation is S$434 to $542.50 in value. The minimum spend is also much larger at S$3,000 within 60 days instead of DBS yuu’s S$800.
It’s pretty much a choice between S$388 reward for S$800 of minimum spend or S$435 to S$542.50 reward for S$3,000 of minimum spend. While some may say that S$3,000 is 275% more than S$800 but the sign-up reward is only about 12-40% better, I personally would pick the larger reward. So both options here are great picks depending on which minimum spend you can more comfortably manage.
If you have decided on DBS Altitude, you can go on to further compare the DBS Altitude deal with the DBS Vantage one assuming you are able to meet the Vantage’s S$120,000 annual income requirement.

For miles people: pick DBS Vantage (if income allows)
If your annual income is less than S$120,000, DBS Altitude is the only choice, and still a great choice given how the promo is fantastic without having to pay an annual fee.
For those who can qualify for DBS Vantage, is the DBS Vantage promo a better pick? While I feel it is better to opt out of the annual fee for the DBS Altitude deal, the Vantage’s S$599.50 annual fee is compulsory. The aded S$599.50 fee gets you 41,600 more miles (Vantage’s 85,000 miles minus Altitude’s 43,400 miles), making each mile 1.44 cents.
It’s not a terrible deal, and if this were the only thing I got for paying the S$599.50 I might just be quite okay with it. But you get significantly more than just the miles because aside from 10 Priority Pass lounge visits, you also get free Accor Plus Explorer membership which comes with a free hotel night. Even at a watered down valuation, say S$200 for them, your cost per mile now goes down dramatically to about 0.96 cents ([S$599.50 – S$200] ÷ 41,600 miles).
Don’t forget also that the DBS Vantage has a higher earn rate of 1.5 miles per dollar compared to Altitude’s 1.3, so you get more base miles on your spend. Annual fee aside, the DBS Vantage does have a higher minimum spend of S$4,000, so make sure you are able to hit that. If there’s no problem meeting this minimum spend and income requirement, I’d pick DBS Vantage.

Great rewards even for Existing Cardholders
If you already have a DBS or POSB card, the bank still gives you attractive sign-up rewards. Most other banks have stopped offering sign-up gifts for existing cardholders, so it’s nice to see DBS takes care of its loyal customers.
DBS Takashimaya’s deal was supposed to end 30th June 2024, but it has been extended to 31st August 2024. It’s a fantastic deal that gives S$150 sign-up rewards which is as generous as it gets for sign-up gifts given to existing cardholders.
