4 Ways to Get Bonus Miles/Cashback For Groceries at NTUC FairPrice

Do your groceries often at NTUC FairPrice? Here are some ways you can get additional cashback and/or miles for your daily essentials.

Using the right card

If you aren’t new to this site, you should already know that using the right card can make your groceries significantly more affordable. Check out this list of cards that you can use at NTUC FairPrice as well as other supermarkets for lots of miles or cashback:

Using HeyMax for additional miles

Using HeyMax also allows you to earn bonus Max Miles on your NTUC FairPrice expenses.

There are 3 ways to do so:

MethodBonus MilesUse At
1Buy FairPrice Gift Cards0.1 Max Mile per dollarStores or Online
2Buy FairPrice Online Vouchers1 Max Mile per dollarOnline only
3Shop with MaxUp to 3.2 miles per dollarOnline only

Note that the first two options involve buying gift cards or vouchers from HeyMax, and such transactions code as Merchant Category Code (MCC) 5311 instead of 5411 for groceries. Shop with Max, however, directs you to FairPrice‘s online website which should retain its 5411 MCC.

Using Kris+ for additional miles/rebates

Alternatively, you can also use Kris+ which is accepted as a payment option for NTUC FairPrice through 2 ways:

MethodCard RewardsBonus Miles From Kris+
1Buying in-store FairPrice vouchers with KrisPay miles (credit cards not accepted)N/AN/A
2Buying FairPrice Online promo codes in Kris+ app

The first option requires you to go to the FairPrice outlet’s service counter and buy FairPrice vouchers. You can then use the vouchers at the cashier for your groceries. There are no additional miles to be earned here, but this option is useful for those who want to offload expiring KrisPay miles.

The second option is to buy Fairprice Online promo codes within the Kris+ app, and using the codes for purchases at fairprice.com.sg. This option currently earns additional 1 mile per dollar (equivalent to 1% rebate) on top of your usual card rewards. I have tested the MCC of this purchase and it codes as 5411, so your grocery cards* should work for this.

⚠️ Citi Rewards and Citi SMRT users

*Paying by credit card on Kris+ requires the use of mobile wallets like Apple Pay or Google Pay, while both Citi Rewards and Citi SMRT specifically excludes mobile wallets. I have not come across anyone who has reported getting points with Citi Rewards when paying via Kris+, but reports are mixed for Citi SMRT. Use these cards for Kris+ at your own risk.

It’s also worth noting that there are occasional promos where such codes are sold at a discounted price.

Kris+

Note that you can’t earn Linkpoints when paying with vouchers. It’s equivalent to 0.5% cash rebate, so the options above (except earning 0.1 Max Mile per dollar) should be better.
