YouTrip Promo: Get 5% Cashback on S$300 Foreign Currency Spend
In a push notification, YouTrip has announced a foreign currency spend promo from 4th to 31st December 2024. It’s a relatively straightforward and decent promo – spend S$300 worth of foreign currency and get 5% cashback.
Registration is required and can be done in your YouTrip app. Unfortunately, there is a cap of 15,000 eligible awardees who can receive this cashback.

Within your YouTrip app, go to Perks where you should find the banner for the promo.
Timeline
Foreign currency spend has to be made from 4th to 31st December 2024. If eligible, cashback reward will be awarded by 31st January 2025.

Best travel card?
In my testing of multiple travel cards, YouTrip came up quite favourably, ending up 2nd against a field of other fuss-free travel cards. With this 5% cashback, it is likely to be one of the top few cards, at least for S$300 of spend.
In comparison, using a miles card for 4 miles per dollar typically incurs a fee of anywhere between 2% (with Amaze) to about 3.25% (using a miles card directly).
This means that if you opt to earn miles and pay around 2% in fees, you are also forgoing 5% of cashback. That’s a total of 7 cents in direct and opportuntiy cost for every dollar you spend. If your haul is 4 miles per dollar, you are essentially buying each mile at 1.75 cents which is fairly expensive.
Currently, I would prioritise this promo over other travel cards and promos, though the cap of S$300 is on the lower side if you are holidaying. It helps if your companions also have YouTrip, though again note that there is a 15,000-person cap to this promo.
