Upsized Deal: Existing HSBC Cardholders Get S$50 eCapitaVoucher, No Minimum Spend!

Update: extended until 5th November 2023!

In a rare display of affection for existing customers, HSBC cardholders can now get a bonus S$50 eCapitaVoucher when they apply for another eligible credit card from HSBC. No minimum spend necessary! Apply latest by 31st October 2023. 5th November 2023.

If they choose to hit S$1,000 of minimum spend, there is another S$50 cashback. This was the usual offer from HSBC which is already generous by itself considering how many banks don’t have any rewards for existing cardholders.

Who counts as an existing HSBC cardholder?

While other banks have a pretty straightforward definition of who’s an existing cardholder, HSBC’s definition is pretty convoluted.

First, your last HSBC credit card needs to be approved more than 12 months ago, unless it is the HSBC Visa Infinite and TravelOne card. Second, you must not have cancelled any HSBC credit card in the past 12 months except for the HSBC Visa Infinite and TravelOne card.

Aaron, the venerable yuu user from Milelion, puts it like this:

Riveting conversation, I know

I think it’s clearer in bullet points, so:

  • Applied for HSBC Advance, HSBC Premier, HSBC Revolution, or HSBC Visa Platinum in the past 12 months?
  • Cancelled HSBC Advance, HSBC Premier, HSBC Revolution, or HSBC Visa Platinum in the past 12 months?

If the answer to any of the above questions is yes, then you are not considered an existing HSBC cardholder. And just to confirm: both HSBC TravelOne and HSBC Visa Infinite do not affect your existing cardholder status.
