UOB Credit Cards: 50,000 vs 31,000 Miles Sign-up Promos Compared

For the final two months of 2023, UOB is offering up to 50,000 miles in sign-up gifts for two of its popular credit cards. You can pick between two promos and this promotion is open to new UOB cardholders.

The last date to apply is 31st December 2023.

💳 A new UOB cardholder refers to those who do not currently have a principal UOB credit card, and have not cancelled any in the past 6 months. Refer to the terms and conditions for specific terms.

KrisFlyer UOB: up to 31,000 miles

KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card offers up to 31,000 miles for its welcome offer. This is made up of a 20,000 miles sign-up gift, 5,000 bonus miles for those who are first-time applicants of the card, plus whatever miles that are earned by the card.

There is a spend requirement of S$2,000 within the first 60 days and the card earns a usual 1.2 miles per dollar for any non-excluded transaction. If spent on eligible categories like Singapore Airlines transactions or Kris+ spend, the earn rate is 3 miles per dollar.

The miles are automatically transferred to your KrisFlyer account after each statement month so there is no conversion fees to worry about.

My pick: go for KrisFlyer UOB

Personally, I would recommend going for the KrisFlyer UOB promo.

Firstly, the spend requirement is easier. While you need to spend a total of S$2,000 for both promos, KrisFlyer UOB Card allows you to complete the spend requirement in one sitting. This is far easier than having to time your spend to S$1,000 per month for 2 consecutive months.

Secondly, the miles are credited directly to your KrisFlyer account so you save the trouble of having to manage UOB points. There won’t be any conversion fees to take care of either.

Thirdly, KrisFlyer UOB Card is a generally superior card to UOB PRVI Miles, giving you 3 miles per dollar for things like Singapore Airline transactions which include Scoot and even Kris+ purchases. With a minimum spend of S$800 within your membership year, other transactions like dining and online shopping get boosted to 3 miles per dollar too.

Lastly, the annual fee of S$259.20 gets you roughly 20,000 more miles which isn’t that fantastic a deal.

What to spend on?

Note that there are transactions which are excluded so read the terms and conditions.
