UOB Bill & Tax Super Saver Promo: Get up to 6% Rebates on Taxes, Utilities, and Other Bills
Tax season is here and UOB has extended its promo for paying your income tax via GIRO with your UOB One account.
This year, the bank is extending the promo to other bill payments including utilities, telco, and even other kinds of taxes. Similar to last year, accountholders can get a 6% rebate when they pay for eligible transactions via GIRO. More UOB accounts are also eligible this time, though UOB One is probably still the best account to use for this.
Used optimally, the rebate can translate into roughly 0.4% p.a. bonus interest on your account. You can use the calculator later in this article to calculate the effective rate for your own situation.

How does this work?
To qualify for this promo, you need to maintain at least S$30,000 in an eligible UOB savings account, and pay for eligible bills via a GIRO arrangement.
You will also need to activate Money Lock and lock at least S$1 to be eligible for rebates under this promo.
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | Apply for GIRO monthly payment plan and select an eligible account. eGIRO is available to avoid physical forms. |
| Step 2 | Register for PayNow linked to your mobile number using UOB TMRW app or UOB Personal Internet Banking. |
| Step 3 | Activate Money Lock on UOB TMRW app or UOB Personal Internet Banking and lock at least S$1. |
UOB states that no actions are required if you have performed all the activities listed above prior to 1 April 2026. The bank also reminds users to leave sufficient funds unlocked to pay for the monthly GIRO deductions.
Cash rebate cap
The amount of rebate you can get is capped depending on the monthly average balance in your account:
| Tier | Monthly Average Balance | Payment Rebate | Monthly Rebate Cap | Spend Amount |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ≥ S$30,000 | 6.0% | S$10 | S$166.67 |
| 2 | ≥ S$75,000 | 6.0% | S$25 | S$416.67 |
| 3 | ≥ S$150,000 | 6.0% | S$50 | S$833.34 |
For example, if you pay eligible bills amounting to S$500 via a GIRO arrangement, you can expect to get S$30 of rebates. This is provided your monthly average balance is S$150,000 or above. If your monthly average is S$80,000, you will hit the rebate cap for the 2nd tier and get S$25 instead.
Eligible Bills
While only personal income tax was eligible last year, the promo this year extends to other taxes payable to IRAS such as property tax. LTA road tax is also eligible this time, along with other bills:
| Category | Eligible Entities |
|---|---|
| Tax | IRAS LTA |
| Insurance | Prudential |
| Utilities | Keppel SP Services Geneco Pacific Light Energy |
| Telco | Starhub Singtel M1 |
Eligible accounts
This promo is only for:
- UOB Uniplus Account
- UOB One Account
- KrisFlyer UOB Account
- UOB Lady’s Savings Account
And yes, UOB Stash is not eligible.
Converting this into “effective interest rate”
Because you are required to maintain certain balance amounts in order to unlock rebates, we can see the rebate received to be a form of bonus interest on the savings amount.
This is on top of the interest of your savings Account. UOB One, in particular, can offer as much as 1.9% p.a. if you maintain S$150,000 in the account and meet the requirements.
Alternatives may make more sense
UOB One, even being UOB’s account with the highest interest right now, is currently quite unattractive compared to the competition. Depending on balance amount and amount of bills to be paid, one may be better off just using another bank account instead and forgoing this promo.
For instance, if you have S$100,000 in your UOB One account and can pay S$420 worth of bills through this promo, you will get around S$114.58 of interest (assuming Spend and Salary requirements are met) plus S$25 of rebate from this promo. That’s about 1.68% p.a. effective interest when you total it up.
You can earn rewards on bill payments outside of this promo
It is also worth noting that things like telco bill payments are expenses that you can get card rewards on quite easily. Utilities, taxes and insurance may be a little bit more difficult, but there are still ways.
