Singapore Airlines Spontaneous Escapes May 2024
Singapore Airlines’ monthly Spontaneous Escapes destinations for the month of May 2024 have been announced. Bookings can be done latest by 30th April 2024 while seats last, and travel dates have to be within May 2024.
As usual, the discount for this month is 30% off Saver rates.
Interesting redemptions
This month doesn’t look that interesting to me, with only a few destinations catching my eye:

For shorter durations, the economy redemptions for Hong Kong, Malé, Darwin or Perth seem well priced and great for short getaways.
If you’re willing to endure the trip to San Francisco in Economy, 29,400 miles is also a very low price to pay, though it’s a pity that there’s no return flight on discount. You could possibly still book a full-priced redemption back with an Advantage booking that costs 70,000 miles (since Saver awards are almost non-existent next month). 99,400 miles for a return trip to the States with Singapore Airlines is a pretty good price actually, but again the 15-hour Economy flight does sound a bit painful.
You could use those miles for return trip to Sydney in Business Class, though it seems availability is pretty bad so you might not be able to find this redemption easily.
If I really wanted to travel next month, Malé would probably be my pick for the month. The promo price is widely available and I’ve never been to Maldives before. Choice of destinations can be very subjective of course, so you can tap here for the full list of destinations.

Get 30% off when you use KrisFlyer miles on Pelago
Until 30th April 2024 as well, you can use KrisFlyer miles to redeem stuff on Pelago and get 30% off too. Pelago is Singapore Airlines’ shopping portal for travel activities and you could possibly use this as a way to get rid of expiring miles you are unable to use for a flight.
With the 30% discount, you can use each mile to offset 0.95 cents on the portal. It’s not the best value but it beats letting your miles expire.
Next month is probably going to be bad, I think
Given that June is a peak period for travel since it’s the school holidays, the options next month are probably going to be worse. Book your seats soon if you’re itching to travel soon, otherwise you might have to wait until July.
