What to spend on?

Credit card welcome offers usually require a minimum spend to be reached, and this can easily be done when you buy supermarket vouchers. It’s the same with DBS yuu, except cardholders have found that buying vouchers from Cold Storage or Giant also counts for the card’s high earn rate.

This is a very easy way to use the DBS yuu Card, even for those who may not spend that much on yuu merchants. Just buy S$800 worth of vouchers, get your welcome gift and rebates/miles, then spend the vouchers over the next few months. Make sure to spend at at least 3 other yuu merchants (no min. spend required) to qualify for DBS yuu’s high earn rate.

24,000 Max Miles are worth at least S$432

Even if you are not a miles person, Max Miles can be used quite easily for rebates. You can simply book any flight with cash (or a good credit card) and submit the itinerary to HeyMax to use up your Max Miles as rebates for your flight at 1.8 cents per Max Mile. This makes 24,000 Max Miles worth at least S$432.

Personally, I have transferred a good bulk of my Max Miles to Accor Live Limitless for hotel bookings. This results in a value per mile of approximately 2.95 cents each for my hotel bookings, which means 24,000 Max Miles can be used at roughly S$708!

It does take a little bit more effort than just getting the S$350 cash option, but when it’s possible to get so much value from a credit card sign-up gift, I think it’s very worth it.

You’ll need a HeyMax account, so sign up below for some welcome rewards:
