Nerfed: DCS to Exclude Transit and ipaymy Transactions From 1st June 2025
With effect from 1st June 2025, DCS will exclude certain transactions from earning rewards on several of their more popular credit cards. Notable exclusions include EZ-Link top-ups and ipaymy.
5 new exclusions from 1st June
Transactions with the following merchant descriptions are affected:
- EZ-LINK*
- IPAYMY*
- SIMPLYGO*
- skrill.com*
- TRANSIT*
Update: as pointed out in the Telegram, bus/MRT transactions will still get rewards, just that transactions for the topping up of things like EZ-Link card will not. I have reached out to DCS for confirmation and will update this article accordingly. Confirmed that bus and MRT rides charged directly to DCS cards will continue to earn rewards.
After the change takes effect on 1st June 2025, these transactions will no longer attract rewards nor count towards minimum spend for:
- DCS Ultimate Platinum UnionPay Card
- DCS Ultimate Platinum Mastercard
- DCS Flex Visa Platinum Card
- DCS Imperium World Elite Card
Make sure you switch to a different card from June onwards.
CardUp unaffected?
Strangely, while ipaymy is explicitly excluded, its close alternative and competitor CardUp does not seem affected by this change for now. DCS Flex, in particular, has been a great option to use for both services, offering 6% cashback on online transactions (with a category sub-limit).
ipaymy users who have been using the DCS Flex for their various bill payment through the platform would have to explore CardUp from June onwards when the change takes effect. Alternatively, check out the guide for other cards that still work with ipaymy.
DCS Flex now supports Apple Pay and Google Pay
Separately, there is a little bit of good news for DCS Flex cardholders — the card now supports both Apple Pay and Google Pay so regardless of which major mobile platform you use, you can now pay with your mobile phone.
