Buffed: KrisFlyer Increases Redemption Value of Miles to 1 Cent Each From 1st July 2025
From 1st July 2025, Singapore Airlines is increasing the redemption value of KrisFlyer miles to 1 cent when redeemed on Kris+, KrisShop, and Pelago as well when used to offset Singapore Airlines and Scoot flight tickets. If you have been intending to use your miles
Kris+
Users of Singapore Airlines’ payment app, Kris+, would perhaps be the biggest beneficiaries of such an enhancement. The app offers bonus miles for purchases made in-app or at partnering retail stores, and some of such miles cannot be transferred to KrisFlyer for flight bookings and can only be used to offset Kris+ purchases.

Until the change takes effect from 1st July 2025, users can redeem KrisPay miles at a ratio of 150 KrisPay miles = S$1 which is a value of 0.67 cents per mile. When July rolls along, the value is boosted to 100 KrisPay miles = S$1 or 1 cent per mile.

KrisShop and Pelago
KrisShop and Pelago see the same 1 cent per mile redemption rate from 1st July 2025.

It’s not the best use of miles unless you have expiring ones that you need to offload quickly. Even then, things on KrisShop that appeal to me like an iPad or Apple Watch can be bought through iStudio using Kris+, and the prices tend to be better outside.
Using miles as cash for Singapore Airlines or Scoot flights
Singapore Airlines have been allowing passengers to offset ticket prices with their KrisFlyer miles at 0.95 cents per mile. This will go up slightly to the same 1 cent per mile as the other channels you can redeem your KrisFlyer miles at.

Miles are still best reserved for redemption flights which would likely get the best value. For instance, if a return flight to Tokyo on Singapore Airline can cost around S$750, which means you could use 75,000 miles to offset the ticket cost at the new 1 cent per mile valuation. It only costs 54,000 miles (and about S$100 tax) to redeem the same return flight to Tokyo. With Spontaneous Escapes, it could be as low as 37,800 miles for the same itinerary.
Also, my preference (as with many miles people) is to use my miles for business class tickets. Redeeming the same flights but in business class costs 104,000 miles, so the question would be if you would rather want to part with 75,000 miles to pay an economy class ticket of S$750 when you just need a bit more for the business class version.
In any case, availability is often better for flights paid in cash, so if you have to travel on certain dates where redemption flights are not available and you must use your miles, getting 1 cent per mile for them is certainly better than just 0.95 cents.
Conclusion
With this change, it’s a little bit easier to value KrisFlyer miles now — it can be quite simply put that the value of each KrisFluer mile is 1 cent each. Still, it shouldn’t drastically change the value proposition of miles which are still best used for redemption tickets.
Regardless, those with a bunch of Kris+ miles have quite a bit to be happy about — our KrisPay miles stuck in the app will soon be worth 50% more. I’ll be using them for Joy Luck egg tarts and Nintendo Switch 2 accessories so thank you Singapore Airlines.
