Kris+ Promo: Turn Miles Into Rebates With 30% Bonus

Until 30th September 2024, Kris+ users are able to get a 30% bonus when they convert their KrisFlyer miles into KrisPay miles. KrisPay miles can only be used to offset spending within the Kris+ app, so this is akin to using your Singapore Airlines miles as rebates.

This promo could be useful for those who are not in miles game but have earned some KrisFlyer miles through their flights, or for those with expiring miles that need to offloaded quickly.

Value Per Mile Boosted to 0.87 Cents

To qualify for the bonus, you need to transfer a minimum of just 15 KrisFlyer miles. The transfer and bonus are credited instantly to your Kris+ account and they will expire in 6 months. Note that these KrisPay miles will not be transferrable back to your KrisFlyer.

You can use KrisPay miles to offset spending on the Kris+ app at a ratio of 150 KrisPay miles for S$1. This is a valuation of 0.67 cents per mile. With the 30% bonus, your KrisFlyer miles can now be used at 0.87 cents each.

You can only use KrisPay miles on Kris+ transactions, so you might want to look through the app for deals and merchants to see if anything is relevant to you.

Is 0.87 Cents a Good Value?

Even with this promo, 0.87 cents is a pretty low valuation to use your KrisFlyer miles at. Typically, people get the most value from their miles redeeming them for flights in premium cabins, and even using them for economy flights can be better value than 0.87 cents each.

Alternatives

Singapore Airlines’ monthly Spontaneous Escapes promo is also coming on Monday (stay subscribed for updates), and that is a great way to make use of miles even for economy flights.

At the same time, Singapore Airlines is also offering 30% off KrisShop purchases and Pelago travel experiences, so those are also things worth considering to use up miles. While the value of miles goes up slightly compared to this Kris+ promo, I would compare the prices on KrisShop and Pelago against competing sites to see if the item I want can be obtained cheaper elsewhere.

Good for those not in the miles game, or for dealing with expiring miles

Nonetheless, if you have miles that you have no use for, this promo might make sense. People who have no interest in the game of miles but might have collected some KrisFlyer miles as a result from flying Singapore Airlines can now get better rebate value from their KrisFlyer miles. I’ve mentioned before that Kris+ is in essence quite a good cashback app despite the constant use of “miles”, and this promo is an example.

If you have a small amount of miles expiring and they can’t be used be used for your future trips, this promo is also worth considering. Better poor value than no value at all.
