Promo details
The promotion is for KrisFlyer members who perform a Kris+ Redemption Transaction during the Promotional Period from 26th July 2023 to 13th August 2023 (11:59PM).
Users will receive KrisPay miles back based on the percentage of the actual number of KrisPay miles used. For payments of 15 miles (S$0.10) and above, 25% of the KrisPay miles transferred (rounded down to the nearest whole number) will be credited instantly to user’s Kris+ account. These KrisPay miles will be valid for 6 months from the date of credit.
This promo applies to in-store purchases through Kris+, or in-app purchases using the app.
The KrisPay miles credited through this promotion cannot be transferred to any KrisFlyer account.
Each KrisPay mile boosted to 0.889 cents value
Each KrisPay mile is worth 0.667 cents each when used outside of miles-back campaigns like this. Normally, a S$10 transaction requires 1,500 KrisPay miles to be offset in full.
With this promo, you get 375 miles (25%) back, which means you use only 1,125 miles for S$10. That brings each KrisPay mile up to 0.889 cents each.
You could transfer KrisFlyer miles to your Kris+ for this promo, but given 0.889 cents isn’t that fantastic a value to be liquidating your miles at, I think you might only exercise this option if you have any expiring KrisFlyer miles you are unable to make a flight redemption with.
This promo is great for getting rid of KrisPay miles you have not transferred out of Kris+, or are non-transferrable to begin with, such as the miles you earn from Kris+ spend challenges.

Excellent deal: get an iPad with CIMB credit cards! Free iPad also available with OCBC 365.

FairPrice vouchers are an easy way to use this promo
While this promo works with any Kris+ partner, you may wish to buy FairPrice vouchers as a quick and easy way to offload KrisPay miles in your Kris+ account. You can use KrisPay miles to buy FairPrice vouchers at FairPrice Finest outlets.
And no, you can’t use Kris+ for FairPrice purchases directly. You need to buy the vouchers with Kris+ first before consuming the vouchers at any FairPrice outlet (even regular, non-Finest ones).
No splitting of transactions
While looking through the terms and conditions of this promo, I noticed a clause that is probably new: each receipt qualifies for one transfer of KrisPay miles to a Kris+ partner, and Kris+ partners can turn down multiple Kris+ payments for the same transaction.
This means that if your transaction is S$100, you can’t use 13,500 KrisPay miles to pay for S$90, then immediately pay for the remaining S$10 with the miles you just got back from the miles-back campaign.
I imagine this depends on how strict the cashier is, and it might not be that big an issue if you are buying FairPrice vouchers. It is probably an easy affair telling the cashier to split your voucher purchases into separate transactions.
Conclusion
While we’ve seen miles-back campaign go as high as 40% in the past year or so, 25% is surely better than nothing at all. This is a good chance to offload all the KrisPay miles stuck in your Kris+ app before they expire, and it may also be a timely opportunity to deal with any KrisFlyer miles you may have that you can’t redeem for flights.
