Huat Pals 2023 Guide: How to Get Ingot and Win S$88.88 or Pixel 7 Pro!

BB Loh and friends are back for the third consecutive year! That is right – Huat Pals is back and as self-proclaimed best Huat Pals player I am going to run you through all things Huat Pals 2023! You will need Google Pay to play this game, so sign up if you don’t already have an account:

Collect all 5 Lunar New Year Goodies to win

Instead of BB Loh or Bao Bao, this year we are looking for Lunar New Year goodies!

Once you have collected all 5 goodies, you will win one of the following:

1. Scratch card worth up to S$88.88; or
2. Pixel 7 Pro worth S$1,299; or
3. Pixel Buds Pro worth S$299!

Just like previous years, I’m betting my last ang pow dollar that one of these goodies is going to be super rare, and stay subscribed to find out which is the rare piece (IT’S PROBABLY INGOT) and more tips and tricks to finding it! As with the past two years, I would also be giving away any extra I get in contests!

The key to winning Huat Pals is to open up new goodies as much as possible. Read on to find out how to do so.

Collecting goodies

You can get goodies with any of the below activities:

A) Make eligible transactions of S$5 to merchants via:

• Pay via PayNow QR or UEN – 1 goody per day
• Pay via FavePay QR – 1 goody per day
• Pay via FavePay QR with merchant you have cashback with – 1 goody per day
• Purchase movie tickets via the Google Pay app – 1 goody per day

B) Split an expense with at least 2 people, and receive a minimum of $3 from each of
them – 1 goody per day

C) Give goodies to friend and get one goodie per unique friend – 5 goodies per day

Activity A) Eligible transactions

Eligible transactions require you to spend, and it should go without saying that you must not spend unnecessarily just to get a small chance at winning what is likely going to be a small prize.

There are ways to game this, somewhat, and this year shouldn’t be any different. Paying your bills through services that accept PayNow should get you some extra goodies without needing to spend extra. This section would be updated as we discover more ways to do so.

List of good ways to earn goodies without really spending:

• AXS
• YouTrip top up
• Dash top up (use code DASH-OZ9G2 get up to S$20)
• ShopeePay top up

FavePay

FavePay transactions get goodies too, and you can get 1 when you pay at a merchant you don’t have cashback for, then another when you pay at a merchant you have cashback with. You have to use Google Pay app to scan FavePay QR codes instead of using the Fave app.

You can use the Fave app to find nearby merchants that accept this payment mode.

Activity B) Splitting expense

To get a minimum of $3 from two other friends, simple math dictates that your transaction needs to be at least S$9.

You could stack this with Activity A to get bonus pals from that, and bonus pals from this. After making a payment of S$9, there is a “Split with friends” button that you should tap in order to split the bill.

Activity C) Gifting goodies

Just like last year, trading is a big part of the Huat Pals experience, and you need to give stuff to unique friends in order to get goodies back yourself. This means you can only get one goodie from gifting goodies to a friend, regardless of how many goodies you give to him/her.

More ways to get goodies

This year, there are also more ways to get goodies. Huat Riddles is something we saw in 2022’s Huat Pals, and it is appearing again this year. Simply answer a Chinese New Year riddle and get rewards from brands like Klook, FairPrice, and other merchants!

New this year is Huat Scanner which tasks you with using your smartphone camera to scan festive items like red packets, oranges, paper lanterns etc.

These tasks appear at random times each day, so join Huat Pals group for notifications!

The game will likely see updates

As the past two years have shown, Huat Pals get updates over the course of Chinese New Year. Stay subscribed to the Telegram to get updates.

Summary

In summary, you just need to keep getting new goodies. This is done by completing as many tasks as you can per day. Luck and persistence will eventually get you your Ingot.

• Complete as many daily activities as you can each day to get goodies (PayNow + gifting goodies in group chat are perhaps the easiest tasks)
• Complete Huat Scanner and Huat Riddles for extra goodies
