You get 2 gift options for this promo. The first lets you choose between Beats earphones, S$270 Shopee vouchers, or 15,000 Max Miles. The second lets you choose whether to pay the annual fee for 45,000 miles, or have a first-year fee waiver and get 25,000 miles.

While you are free to choose something that suits you, my personal choice would be to pick 15,000 Max Miles and pay the annual fee for 45,000 miles.

Whichever you choose, you also get 2 chances to win a new Apple smartphone worth more than S$1,000 or VIP tickets to a sold-out concert happening 12th/13th October next month!

✈️ Promo 1 (Card Only)

For new cardholders only, choose 1:

  • 30,000 miles: pay annual fee of S$196.20
  • 20,000 miles: get a first-year annual fee waiver

Both options require a min. spend of S$800 within 60 days. I recommend opting for the fee waiver unless you are okay to pay S$196.20 for 10,000 miles.

S$270 Shopee Vouchers vs 15,000 Max Miles

Either S$270 Shopee vouchers or 15,000 Max Miles are great gifts to choose. The value of S$270 Shopee vouchers is probably quite clear and it’s a good choice if you shop often on that platform.

15,000 Max Miles, however, is my pick. While you can’t currently transfer Max Miles to KrisFlyer, you can use their Fly Anywhere feature to redeem Max Miles for any flight you pay with cash. Each mile can be used at 1.8 cents per mile value, which means if you book a scoot flight for S$300, you can use 15,000 Max Miles to get S$270 reimbursed from heymax.

This is, in my opinion, easier to use up versus S$270 Shopee vouchers. As a plus, you keep all the credit card rewards you get when booking your flight.

Paying the annual fee vs having a fee waiver

You also get to choose whether you want to pay the S$196.20 annual fee or not. Paying the annual fee lets you get 45,000 miles after meeting the S$3,000 spend requirement, while opting for the fee waiver gets you 25,000 for the same requirement.

That’s paying S$192.60 for 20,000 miles or just 0.96 cents per mile which is well worth it in my books. A return trip to Japan in business class costs 104,000 miles, so if you manage to buy every single mile at just 0.96 cent, your flight costs only around S$1,000 before tax. That’s an awesome deal.

What to spend on?

You need to meet the minimum spend to qualify for rewards. Do note that there are transactions which are excluded. Read the terms and conditions carefully when applying.

Generally, retail transactions like buying stuff or dining out are very safe. Things like bill payments, education expenses and CardUp or ipaymy become a lot iffier and depends on the bank your card is from.

Do check out this article on what you can spend on to meet the minimum spend:
