CrowdTask: Get Easy S$7 and Earn More By Doing Surveys

CrowdTaskSG is an initiative by Government Technology Agency Singapore (GovTech). It is a web portal for government agencies in Singapore to engage citizens and gather insights through crowdsourcing tasks.

These tasks include surveys, opinion polls, choice questions, and translation requests. Right now, only survey tasks are available during this soft launch period.

Easy S$7 for completing simple tasks (do this)

Even if you don’t care to use this platform, signing up gets you a free coffee or tea from Toast Box, and there is currently a way for you to get an easy S$7 when you sign up and enter 5 Ollie codes. This process only takes a couple of minutes.

You can use these 5 codes under the Quest section:

  • Foodie: 5MAJEFE3
  • Patriotic: LLEGZMYE
  • Influencer: NXC3FJNA
  • Fit: HBH3P9JU
  • Explorer: FAWMTECY

Doing so will earn you 7,000 bonus coins which are worth S$7. They can take up to 3 working days to be credited, and you can use the S$7 at NETS QR participating merchants.

Earn more points to climb the leaderboard (skip this, probably)

After claiming your bonus coins, you can continue to share your Ollie code and get more Ollie codes to gain points. You get 5 points whenever someone uses your code, and 5 points each time you use someone’s code.

As such, you are incentivised to share your code as much as possible, and also to find as many unique codes of others. You can do so in this Telegram group I’ve set up just for CrowdTask.

The top 100 participants on the Leaderboard will each receive the equivalent value of up to 150,000 worth of coins (S$150 in value) in the following manner:

  • 1st place: 150,000 coins ($150 in value)
  • 2nd and 3rd place: 100,000 coins ($100 in value)
  • 4th to 6th place: 60,000 coins ($60 in value)
  • 7th to 10th place: 30,000 coins ($30 in value)
  • 11th to 100th place: 10,000 coins ($10 in value)

Personally speaking, I don’t think it’s easy to squeeze into the top 100, and even if you do manage to do so, it’s… S$10. I imagine it takes serious dedication to get anywhere even close to the top 10.

Earn more coins by doing surveys (easy, but low rewards)

If you wish to, you can also complete surveys to earn more coins. Unlike points, coins are actually worth real-life money, though the rewards given are mostly 50 coins (5 cents worth), with some surveys offering as little as 10 to 30 (1 to 3 cents). To be fair, the surveys are pretty brief and can be 3 to 10 questions each which is pretty fast to complete.

On top of the coins, there is a nation-building angle to it, as CrowdTaskSG is a platform for government agencies to leverage citizens’ expertise to solve problems. They aim to involve the public early in product or policy creation and our collective answers will influence the work of government agencies and contribute to building a Smart Nation. Good to know, I guess.

Conclusion

CrowdTask is a cool platform, I guess, and I look forward to more variety of tasks in future with better rewards. Even if you don’t end up using the platform, S$7 for a few minutes of work isn’t too bad.
