Buffed: UOB PRVI Miles Now Offers Free Lounge Visits, Ups Earn Rate to 3 Miles Per Dollar on Selected Currencies

UOB has announced enhancements to UOB PRVI Miles, and this time the word “enhancements” isn’t a euphemism – there are actual improvements to the card’s features!

Firstly, the UOB PRVI will now offer lounge access to a tune of 4 visits a year! Secondly, UOB PRVI will offer a boosted 3 miles per dollar rate on selected foreign currencies.

4 complimentary Priority Pass lounge visits a year

A lack of free lounge access for UOB PRVI has been a longstanding knock against the card when compared against other cards in this category. Citi PremierMiles, DBS Altitude, and StanChart Journey all offer 2 complimentary lounge visits a year via Priority Pass.

UOB has flipped the script by offering not just 2, but 4 free lounge visits a year. Unfortunately, cardholders cannot bring in guests and all 4 visits can only be used by the cardholder. This is still useful if you travel solo, or if your companion isn’t lazy and sign up for a card offering lounge access for themselves.

Also, your different Priority Pass memberships can stack. For instance, if you have Citi PremierMiles and UOB PRVI, you can maintain two Priority Pass accounts between the two cards and have a total of 6 visits a year (2 from Citi Premier and 4 from UOB PRVI).

3 miles per dollar on selected currencies

UOB has also increased the earn rate of UOB PRVI to 3 miles per dollar on 4 selected currencies:

  • Malaysian Ringgit
  • Indonesian Rupiah
  • Thai Baht
  • Vietnamese Dong

3 miles per dollar makes UOB PRVI Miles quite a worthy consideration for those who want miles. 4 miles per dollar is the gold standard and easily achievable with cards like UOB’s own Preferred Platinum Visa or Visa Signature, but it’s important to note that UOB PRVI Miles does not have a minimum spend requirement (unlike UOB Visa Signature), nor does it have a cap (unlike both UOB Preferred Platinum Visa and Visa Signature).

Sign-up Promo

Incidentally, UOB has a relatively rare sign-up promo right now. While most UOB promos have this annoying “first 100/200 applicants” mechanic, the current promo is uncapped. SingSaver is also throwing in extra S$80 of vouchers if you sign up below:

Buffs in a year of nerfs

In a year where there have been more nerfs in just the first six months than the whole of 2023, buffs are much welcomed. In fact, just days after UOB announced this change, HSBC TravelOne’s 4 lounge visits can now be shared with a guest (it was previously only for the cardholder).

Maybank Family and Friends and Maybank World Mastercard were both also recently enhanced, and hopefully it’s a sign of things to come as we finish the rest of 2024. Stay subscribed for updates to earn more from your credit cards, savings accounts etc!
