If you missed it the last time, Maybank is back with an upsized sign-up offer for its cards: get bonus S$80 on top of the usual Samsonite Luggage gift (applicants after first 4,500 will get S$100 cashback instead). This promo will last until 13th October 2022.
Maybank has a few interesting cards
Maybank Family and Friends is, in my opinion, a re-emerging cashback card in light of a few recent nerfs to its cashback competitors. A generous 8% card (and one that truly gets 8%) commands some attention, and I think it’s a worthy card you should look at to see if it suits your expenses.
Maybank Platinum Visa is another beneficiary of UOB One’s nerf, having a similar quarterly cashback mechanic but still being eligible for Cardup/ipaymy.
Education payments?
Finally, we have Maybank Barcelona which gives a fuss-free 1.6% cashback – nothing much to shout about previously, but now that the GrabPay Card is going to be virtually useless, a 1.6% cashback Mastercard is somehow a little more relevant. A few helpful Telegram chat members have stated that it also gives cashback on education payments. It’s not unique to just the Maybank Barcelona card since exclusions for education are generally not found in the terms and conditions of Maybank cards.
