Not an Amaze user yet? Time to get the free wallet app now for a sign-up offer that is 5 times the usual promo. Instead of 200, you get 1,000 InstaPoints which is worth S$10 when redeemed for cash rebates.

All you have to do is to sign up below and make 1 transaction of at least S$10 with your Instarem Amaze card.

Instarem Amaze

New users:

Get 225 InstaPoints when you sign up with referral code iQYZTH and make at least one transaction of S$10.

Features:

  • Get 1 InstaPoint per S$1 equivalent spent in foreign currency (equivalent to 1% rebate)
  • Save on forex fees (compared to your credit card forex charges)
  • Convert offline to online spending (for cards like Citi Rewards)
  • Store and swap between 5 credit cards on one Amaze card

Is Amaze still relevant in 2023?

Amaze has undergone a few nerfs here and there, but the physical card still finds its way in my little cardholder that I bring everywhere, especially overseas. It remains a very good tool for those interested in chasing credit card rewards, whether they travel often or not.

Great combo with Citi Rewards

Firstly, Amaze is a crucial ingredient in making spending on the Citi Rewards online even if you are using it at a physical retail store. Most high-earn cards like the Citi Rewards require a little bit of homework here and there, but adding your Citi Rewards to your Instarem app then using the Amaze card everywhere is an easy way to get 10X on nearly everything (except stuff excluded by Citi Rewards). You don’t have to travel for this nifty card to be useful.

Good travel card for those who want card rewards

But when you do travel, Instarem can help you save on forex fees when you pay overseas and earn rewards. While it is true that Instarem’s rates are not as good as they used to be in the past, they are still lower than that of what banks charge when you pay in a foreign currency using your credit card.

Other cards like Trust or YouTrip may have better rates, but you do not get card rewards on those wallet apps. Instarem Amaze, on the other hand, not only lets you earn rewards on the underlying credit card being used, it also gives extra 1% rebate in the form of InstaPoints when you make transactions of at least S$10 overseas.

Lastly, it lets you host 5 cards within a single app and switching between them is an easy affair.

Minimum redemption block of S$20

InstaPoints can be used for two things, the first of which involves remitting money overseas. You either find this useful or don’t, and for those who indeed need to transfer money overseas would be glad to see that 1,000 InstaPoints offsets S$12.50 of fees.

For everyone else, you can convert the InstaPoints to cash rebates as long as you have at least 2,000 InstaPoints to do so. To encash your InstaPoints, you would need to either earn InstaPoints through foreign spending, or referring your friends to sign up.

After redemption, the cash rebate is credited to your Amaze Wallet. You are able to select it instead of an underlying credit card, then make payment with it. Alternatively, you are currently able to top up your Grab wallet with that and transfer it to your PayNow account without much fuss.

Nifty card to have

Even without a sign-up reward, the card is compelling enough for most people to bring along for their travels. Just don’t sign up too last minute as it might take a few working days for the card to arrive.
