UOB Savings Promo Q3 2025: Nation of Savers S60 Bonanza – Earmark Funds For S$40 to S$340 Cash

For the third quarter of 2025, UOB has announced a new quarterly earmark promo that is offering up to S$340 cash and lucky draw chances when you deposit fresh funds and “earmark” it with the bank.

UOB’s earmark promos give additional cash rewards that allow UOB accountholders to get additional yield on top of their bank accounts’ interest. In return, accountholders must “earmark” funds within their accounts that cannot be withdrawn for the earmark period.

Promo Tiers

Compared to last quarter’s promo, not only have the cash rewards come down quite a bit, the commitment period has also increased significantly to about 7 months. The approximate returns one can expect from this promo is thus pretty low at around 0.34% to 0.36%:

New Funds AmountCash Credit AmountApprox. Returns (p.a.)
S$20,000S$400.34%
S$50,000S$1000.34%
S$100,000S$2100.36%
S$150,000S$3400.36%
Assumes funds are deposited on 31st July 2025 and withdrawn on 28th February 2026

The funds need to be fresh funds compared to your June 2025 monthly average balance.

There are also lucky draw chances where 60 lucky winners can win cash prizes of up to S$3,000.

Earmark Timelines

As mentioned, the earmark period will be for a duration of around 7 months:

Participating Deposit date or
Participation Form submission date,
whichever is later (“Qualifying Period”)
Participating Deposit will be Earmarked and Cash Credit will be credited byEarmark End Date
(including this date)
1st July 2025 to 31st July 202531st August 202517th February 2026
1st August 2025 to 31st August 202530th September 202517th March 2026
1st September 2025 to 30th September 202531st October 202517th April 2026

The timeline is specified in the terms and conditions.

Note that even though you can withdraw your funds on the Earmark End Date, you would probably want to leave it in until the end of the month to withdraw. This is because withdrawing your funds mid-month will cause your monthly average balance to be significantly lower. UOB accounts tend to award interest disproportionately higher for higher balances, so a lowered monthly average balance loses out on more interest than just the effective monthly rate.

Maximum of 3.66% p.a. with UOB One, but…

With a S$150,000 balance, you could theoretically get 3.66% p.a. yield on your savings for the 7-month earmark period. This is made up of UOB One’s 3.3% p.a. on S$150,000 and the approximate returns from the promo. In light of declining interest rates, this might be an interesting option for some.

However, one big caveat of the earmark promo is that the interest rate of UOB’s bank accounts are subject to change. While the bank tends to give one month’s notice before decreasing interest rates, this notice period has little help since your funds will not be available for withdrawal during the earmark period.

Following OCBC’s 2nd cut in interest rates for OCBC 360 to as little as 2.45% p.a. effective interest, it does not seem very optimistic that UOB would maintain interest rates for as long as the next 7 to 8 months.

Maximum of 2.41% p.a. with UOB Stash with the same caveat

The recently nerfed UOB Stash offers an effective rate of 2.05% p.a. on S$100,000 balance. Coupled with the promo’s approximate returns of 0.36% p.a., that is 2.41% p.a. for the 7-month earmark period. Again, this is assuming UOB does not further decrease interest rates for UOB Stash.

GXS recently announced a cut to as low as 1.38% p.a., so it is anyone’s guess whether fuss-free accounts without salary/card spend requirements will slide further in rates.

With banks continually cutting rates, this quarter’s earmark promo has also gone down significantly in attractiveness. With cash rewards amounting to just 0.34% to 0.36% p.a. bonus interest for 7 months and the risk of account interest rates declining, it’s perhaps the most abysmal earmark promo we have seen to date.
