UOB Deal: Get Up to 21,000 Miles or S$150 With UOB Cards, Up to Further $130 With Bank Accounts

UOB has been missing from offering promos for a while now and they’re back with some card and banking offers. UOB cards are quite strong and I use both their cashback and miles cards regularly.

Cashback Cards

New-to-UOB card applicants of UOB EVOL and UOB One get S$150 cash credit upon singing up and spending S$1,500 within the first 30 days from approval. To be clear, this is not limited unlike typical UOB promotions.

UOB Absolute offers 5% upsized cashback on the first S$3,000 of spend, which works out to S$150 in cashback (instead of the usual $51). The effective gift here is thus $99, a tad lower than UOB One or EVOL’s offers. Nonetheless, of these cards only UOB Absolute gives cashback on Grab top-ups.

Mile cards

UOB is offering up to 21,000 miles for UOB PRVI Miles, with 12,000 miles given as a sign-up gift for new-to-bank card applicants who spend S$1,500 in eligible transactions within the first 30 days of card approval. The remaining 9,000 miles advertised by UOB refers to spending $1,500 on selected travel sites that give 6 miles per dollar. If you spend on other merchants, the typical earn rate of 1.4 miles per dollar applies, and you would get 2,100 miles on $9,000 of spend instead of the advertised 9,000.

For KrisFlyer UOB Card, you will get a 9,000 bonus miles as a new-to-bank customer after you spend S$1,500 in eligible transactions within the first 30 days. There is also a welcome gift of 3,000 miles for your first transaction (min. S$5) on KrisFlyer UOB Card, and this works even if you’re an existing UOB cardholder.

Tl;dr: to maximise the promos, you should apply for UOB PRVI first to get the 12,000 miles gift, then apply for the KrisFlyer UOB Card as an existing UOB cardholder for another 3,000 miles.
