Qatar is currently offering up to 40% bonus!

Cathay Pacific has transfer bonuses fairly frequently and tends to offer 10% to 15% bonus each time. 10% is hence on the lower side of things, and definitely nothing compared to Qatar’s ongoing 40% bonus promo that is slated to end 15th October 2025.

Speaking of Qatar, it is also possible to book Cathay Pacific flights for fewer miles using Qatar’s Privilege Club programme. Coupled with the higher 40% bonus one can get with Qatar’s current promo, I feel that Cathay’s offer isn’t that enticing. I would personally try to book Cathay Pacific flights using miles transferred to Qatar Privilege Club as much as possible, subject to availability of course.

Some uses for Asia Miles

That said, only Citibank, HeyMax and HSBC can transfer points to Qatar, and many points like DBS Points, StanChart 360° Rewards Points and UOB UNI$ can only go to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles outside of Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer. Those with a sizeable amount of these points could consider getting a 10% boost with this promo.

Moreover, availability of Cathay Pacific flights tends to be better with its own Asia Miles programme. I’ve personally transfered some points this month for the 10% promo and because Cathay Pacific can fly to places like Hong Kong as well as some Chinese cities for just 28,000 miles. I’ll elaborate more on my miles conversions really soon so stay subscribed for updates.

Save your Amex, Citi, and HSBC points

I wouldn’t touch my Amex, Citi or HSBC points for this promo since they can be put to better use elsewhere, though I did transfer a tiny bit of Amex points for reasons I’ll state in my future piece. Amex, Citi and HSBC points are some of the most valuable points around, and can be transferred to EVA Air for cheaper Singapore Airlines flights. Citi points could also go to Qatar for the 40% promo, so I think it’d be a waste to expend any of these points for a mere 10% bonus.

My stash of UOB points is likely to be headed here. Flying Cathay Pacific out of Hong Kong in business class is quite a pleasant experience given their lounges in Hong Kong International Airport which I had the pleasure of enjoying a couple of months ago. I have more to say on this matter so again, stay subscribed for updates if you need help making up your mind whether to take advantage of this promo.
