Value for miles?
Here is my advice to see whether a redemption makes sense:
- Think about how much you would realistically pay for the flight
- Take that amount, minus off taxes you still have to pay when using miles
- Divide this resulting amount by the number of miles required
- If the value per mile is above 1.5 cents each, I think it’s an okay redemption
A return trip to Chengdu in Business Class is 47,600 miles and about S$80 of tax. Would you be happy to pay at least S$800 for this flight? If so, it’s probably a very good redemption.
Head over to singaporeair.com or use the mobile app and look for the “Promo” column (found next to Saver if the destination is available for Spontaneous Escapes).
