Look Ma I’m Famous – Appearing on Channel 8’s Frontline and Kelvin Learns Investing

A couple of months ago, I read a newspaper article about the cost of living and practically every other finance content creator was asked to comment… every other creator aside from me, of course. I have to say I felt a bit left out.

Someone must have felt my loneliness, because I was invited on radio a couple of weeks ago, and now national TV as well as a famous YouTuber’s channel!

Channel 8 Frontline 前线追踪

Fun fact: this is actually my third time on national TV speaking in Mandarin about a personal finance topic. This time, it was on the long-running current affairs programme 前线追踪 (Frontline)!

Not-so-fun fact: it’s been almost ten years since the last time I did it, and unlike my own YouTube videos where I can get unlimited redos, this was a much more nerve-racking experience. I didn’t think I did that good of a job conveying my ideas across, but the editor did a fabulous job in making me sound coherent.

Judge for yourself – I come in towards the end of the clip to talk about saving money when times are bad:

Kelvin Learns Investing

Kelvin probably needs no introduction, being one of the biggest names in Singapore’s personal finance YouTube space. I also interviewed him earlier this month.

Sorry to my Chinese teachers back in school, but I’m a lot more comfortable in English, and I think this was a far more enjoyable interview to do. I talked about my three jobs to Kelvin, who is a really nice guy. You should totally check out his channel and other videos:

In the media industry?

I’m talkative on personal finance topics (more so in English, but totally alright with Mandarin, I think), so if you’re in the media industry and need guests to talk, hit me up at contact@sethisfy.com
