Worth It? Get iPhone 18 Pro From S$1,300 With Credit Card Application

For a few days, Apple’s latest iPhone 18 Pro is a reward option when you sign up for cards from Citi, HSBC, or OCBC as a new cardholder and pay a top-up amount.

Worth it? It’s actually quite a compelling option.

S$549 to S$599 value possible

Until 30th September 2026, eligible applicants of Citi, HSBC, or OCBC cards are able to top up an amount to upgrade their sign-up gift to an iPhone 18 Pro 256GB model retailing at S$1,899.

The amount you need to top up depends on the credit card applied:

BankTop-up AmountApprox. Value*
HSBCS$1,300S$599 value
CitibankS$1,300S$599 value
OCBCS$1,350S$549 value
*value is derived by subtracting top-up amount from phone’s retail price

Given that Apple products, especially their latest iPhones, are pretty price-controlled, it is going to be difficult to get the phone at prices significantly less than the S$1,899 retail price. The value of opting to top up S$1,300 or S$1,350 for the phone can hence be viewed as S$599 or S$549 respectively.

You can sign up by tapping on the bank names in the table above.

Compared to other gifts

S$599 or S$549 value compares very favourably to other gift options like cash or Max Miles:

BankCash GiftMax MilesiPhone

(S$504 value)
S$599 value
CitibankS$430
(Citi SMRT)

S$400
(other eligible cards)
25,000 Max Miles
(S$450 value)
S$599 value
OCBCS$40025,000 Max Miles
(S$450 value)
S$549 value

Some things to note

While going this route can get one better value than going with cash or Max Miles, note that there are also a few downsides.

Firstly, it will take a few months for the gift to be given, so impatient early adopters might find it better to opt for cash or Max Miles, buy the phone today, then wait for their cash/Max Miles to come later.

Also, the choice of colours will also be subject to availability at the point of redemption.

Nonetheless, if you are not very fussy and want to prioritise a bigger sign-up reward, topping up for the iPhone should yield you better value than the cash and Max Miles rewards which are already very generous for a credit card sign-up gift. It is hard to ignore a welcome offer that gives you more than S$500 of value.
