Highest Ever: Get 100,000 Miles + S$50 Cashback With Amex Platinum Charge
Update: extended till 30th July 2025
American Express has just launched an all-time high welcome offer of 100,000 miles when you sign up for the Amex Platinum Charge and meet the spend requirements. Use the link below and you can also get an additional S$50 cashback!
This works for both new and existing Amex cardholders as long as you have not cancelled an Amex Platinum Charge card in the past 24 months. It’s a very good promo that justifies the annual fee of the card for at least the first year — read on for my calculation.
Moreover, did you know that American Express has dropped the annual income requirement of S$200,000 a while ago? There is currently no more published income requirement (aside from the usual S$30,000 per year requirement for all credit cards in Singapore), and I have friends who now own this card at annual incomes between S$40,000 to S$80,000.
Optional: apply for Amex KrisFlyer Ascend first
Because this promo is opened to existing American Express cardholders as well, you may want to sign up for the Amex KrisFlyer Ascend card first.

Membership Rewards points can be converted to EVA Air miles
It is worth noting that getting 100,000 miles in the form of 160,000 Membership Rewards (MR) points is something very valuable because of how versatile the points are. If you have been following my content recently, you would know that you can take advantage of EVA Air’s lower rates for Singapore Airlines flights:
| Destination | Using KrisFlyer Miles | Using IML Miles | Savings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Japan / Korea | 52,000 miles | 40,000 miles | ~23% |
| Europe | 103,500 miles | 80,000 miles | ~22.7% |
| USA | 107,000 to 111,500 miles | 97,500 miles | ~8.9% to 12.5% |
With 160,000 MR points, you can have 100,000 KrisFlyer miles which is 4,000 shy of the 104,000 required for return trip to Japan or Korea in business class. With EVA Air Infinity MileageLand (IML) miles, you just need 80,000 miles which means you still have 20,000 leftover from this promo.
I would personally value these miles at S$1,250 to S$1,500 — essentially 1.25 to 1.5 cents per mile. In fact, 1.5 cents per mile is a more realistic valuation to price these miles if you are using EVA Air like I would.

Statement credits now awarded half-yearly
While Amex Platinum Charge used to award statement credits each calendar year, it now awards in half-yearly periods instead. For instance, instead of offering S$200 airline credits for S$600 spend for the whole of 2025, it now offers S$100 airline credit for S$300 of spend in the first half of 2025, then another S$100 airline credits for S$300 of spend in the second half of 2025.
It is a little more troublesome than before, but I feel like the recent sign-up bonuses make up for this at least for the first year you own the Platinum Charge.
Apply now for 3 sets of credits
If you apply in the first half of 2025, you can still enjoy 3 sets of credits before the next renewal:
- One set in 1st half 2025 (use by 30th June 2025)
- One set in 2nd half 2025 (use by 31st December 2025)
- One set in 1st half 2026 (use by 30th June 2026)
Again, each set of credits per half year includes:
- S$100 local dining credits (participating outlets)
- S$100 overseas dining credits (participating outlets)
- S$200 lifestyle credits (participating outlets)
- S$100 airline credits (Singapore Airlines or Scoot)
- S$75 fashion credits (Mr Porter and NET-A-PORTER)
You also get S$17 per month entertainment credits (Netflix, Disney+, Straits Times etc.)
I’ll say that the lifestyle credits are a little difficult to use because of the minimum spend requirement, which leaves the remaining S$375 of credits. Since it’s a chore to spend the statement credits, I would apply a 30% haircut and consider it about S$260 in value. That amounts to S$780 over the 3 half-years you will own this card for. The S$17 per month credits for Netflix and Disney+ is so easy to use, it’s fair not to apply any haircut to it and value them at S$204.
Even more benefits that I can’t possibly price
Amex Platinum Charge delivers a whole host of other benefits like a free hotel night, unlimited airport lounge access for you and a guest, and upgrade to gold memberships at various hotel chains (Hilton gives complimentary breakfast at this tier).
American Express also regularly throws in new perks every now and then. I even have access to Paragon’s lounge to rest down and get free coffee/tea when I’m tired in Orchard Road, and there’s currently a pop-up lounge in Raffles City (where you could hopefully not get addicted to their claw machine) opened only to cardholders.
These are benefits that are impossible to price since it’s so subjective, but since you already get back your first-year annual fee with the miles and statement credits, these are absolutely great perks to have for free.
The first-year value is very attractive
For those who enjoy a good deal (like me), Amex Platinum Charge’s promo tends to make the first-year annual fee very worth its while. This current all-time high deal makes things even more attractive.
By my calculation, you can get the following (in realistic, practical terms) in for your first-year S$1,744 annual fee:
- S$50 cashback
- S$1,500 worth of miles
- S$780 worth of statement credits for flights, dining etc.
- S$204 worth of credits for Netflix/Disney+
- Benefits that are very useful
If you have been sitting on the fence about this card for some time, I think this all-time high welcome promo is your sign to try the card out for at least a year before deciding whether to renew after a year is up.
Use CardUp to hit the spend easily
You need to meet the minimum spend to qualify for rewards. Generally, retail transactions like buying stuff or dining out are very safe.
Using a service like CardUp can make it easy for you to hit your minimum spend on things like insurance and even income tax.
Do check out this article for other things you can spend on to meet the minimum spend:
