Great Deal: Score Samsonite Luggage + S$40 + Get 20,000 Miles With HSBC Credit Cards!

Great deal alert: get an eligible HSBC Credit Card, meet the spending requirements and you can get either a Samsonite Luggage retailing at S$670 or S$150 in cashback! To further sweeten the deal, apply though the links below and you get additional S$40 of cash!

Now, you can even get HSBC TravelOne as your second card and get 20,000 miles when you pay the annual fee of S$194.40 for 20,000 miles. Is this worth it? I think so, but more on this later.

Promo details

To qualify, sign up one of the eligible HSBC Credit Cards by 1st October 2023 and spend S$1,000 in qualifying transactions by the end of following month from card approval. You can pick one of the following gifts fulfilled by HSBC:

  • Samsonite ZELTUS 69cm Spinner Exp with built-in scale (worth S$670)
  • S$150 cashback

Regardless of your choice, SingSaver will also throw in a S$40 bonus. Do follow the steps carefully as described below. On top of filling out SingSaver’s redemption form, you also need to forward your card approval email to info@singsaver.com.sg after your card is approved.

Stack HSBC promos

Because HSBC TravelOne 20,000 miles promo also works for existing HSBC cardholders, you can stack promos by first applying for one of the other HSBC cards as a new-to-bank caardholder, then applying for the HSBC TravelOne as your second card.

You will need to satisfy both promos’ spending requirements on the respective cards to qualify, but given the attractive gifts this is well worth the trouble. Supermarket vouchers are a quick and easy way to meet the spending requirement without actually spending more, and you can take your time to use the vouchers for your grocery shopping over the next few months.

Existing cardholders also get S$50 cashback

Even if you already have an HSBC credit card and you apply for another HSBC credit card below that isn’t the HSBC TravelOne, there‘s still a S$50 gift if you can hit the S$1,000 spend requirement. That’s an additional 5% cashback on top of the usual card rewards! Not too shabby considering how few banks offer rewards for existing cardholders these days.

HSBC TravelOne – is it worth spending S$194.40 for 20,000 miles?

The short answer to this question is yes (long answer here). S$194.40 for 20,000 miles is 0.972 cents, and this means you can redeem flights (even economy flights during Spontaneous Escapes) for really affordable prices.

There is a spend requirement of S$800 required, and you could have spent the S$800 on a card that gives you higher rewards. That bring your cost up to slightly over 1 cent per mile, and I still that is still a reasonable rate to buy miles at. Also, getting a bunch of miles quickly is something worth paying a premium for in my books.

The conversion fees of HSBC TravelOne is also waived until end of 2023, and its conversion mechanic allows you to clear out miles without leftover points, so this is also something worth considering even if you’re the type of person who does not like to manage multiple pockets of miles here and there.

HSBC Revolution is a good card for miles (or even cashback)

At 4 miles per dollar for most things you can pay for online or via Paywave, HSBC Revolution is a good card to chalk up miles and it is very simple to use. Even if you are not sure whether you are a miles person, its points can be traded in a relatively reasonable rate making it a 2.5% cashback card.
