(D) Payment of $194.40 annual fee | 10,000 miles | Not applicable | 10,000 miles | Not applicable |
The headlining “37,000 miles” is due assuming you achieve (A) + (B) + (C) + (D).
I don’t think (D) is advisable as paying S$194.40 for 10,000 miles is a rather expensive way to buy miles. There are many other ways to purchase miles at less than this 1.94 cents per mile rate.
Ideally, you should just complete (A) + (B) + (C) for the the best earn rate for this promo, and this can be done just by buying S$2,000 worth of flights or hotels online.
Even if you spend on other things outside of online flights/hotels transactions, just completing (A) + (B) gives you good value. With the DBS Altitude Amex offer, you get 23,400 miles on S$2,000 of spend which is a staggering 11.7 miles per dollar earn rate.

Existing cardholders are not left out of this promo as long as you don’t have a DBS Altitude Amex card.
Again, I recommend not paying the annual fee for the extra 10,000 miles.
The promo is also best if your S$2,000 spend is on online hotels/flights because of the bonus 1.8 miles per dollar earn rate, but it’s not too shabby even if you are just spending the S$2,000 on other transactions. Even on ordinary spend, 12,400 miles on $2,000 of spend is a handsome 6.2 miles per dollar earn rate.
What I would do to maximise the current promos
Personally, if I were a new DBS/POSB cardholder, this is what I would do:
- Apply for DBS yuu card first (S$260 reward)
- Apply for the DBS Altitude Amex as an existing DBS cardholder with fee waiver (16,000 miles)
As a new customer, you do get 11,000 more miles from this promo compared to an existing cardholder, but applying for this promo would preclude you from the S$250 promo of the DBS yuu.
The DBS yuu promo does come with another S$500 of spend requirement, but I think it’s well worth it since S$260 is worth significantly more than 11,000 miles in my books.
If you already have a DBS/POSB card, this Altitude promo is a no-brainer. The 6.2 miles per dollar earn rate you’d get from spending the S$2,000 almost anywhere is unbeatable by virtually every other miles card. It is also a lot more easier to fulfil than high-earn cashback cards‘ conditions. This is definitely an excellent promo.
