DBS American Express Cards Can Now Be Added to Mobile Wallets, Get up to S$10 Cashback Per Card (Limited)
For the longest time, American Express cards issued by banks such as DBS cannot be added to one’s smartphone wallet. This has changed in recent months and you can now indeed add DBS American Express cards to Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay.
DBS is making this feature more prominent by offering a sweet and easy promo: get up to S$10 cashback per DBS American Express card you have when you pay with the card using your phone.
Thanks to Queenie who shared this in the Telegram!
Registration is required (multiple cards work)
For the cashback promo, registration is required and can be done through DBS’s webpage. You are able to register every single DBS American Express card you own, and successful registrations are limited to the first 10,000. Given that each person can register multiple cards, I imagine these spots will go pretty quickly.
An email will be sent to you upon successful registration of the promo.
Make payments with your mobile phone by 7th July
Once you have registered, make sure to also add your DBS American Express card(s) to Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay. When you use these smartphone wallets to make payments in retail stores or in-app purchases, you will get S$2 cashback for every transaction of at least S$10. This is limited to 5 times per card you have successfully registered with the bank.
According to the terms and conditions, transactions must be charged by 7th July 2024 to be eligible. This suggests that you can probably make your transaction on 7th July itself and still get your cashback, though the same document also states that delays in posting of sales transactions may also result in benefits being omitted.
The promotional terms state that the cashback should appear on your billing statement within 15 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from the offer end date.
DBS tends to issue cards instantly for existing cardholders
Even if you don’t have a DBS American Express card right now, you can always sign up for one as DBS tends to issue credit cards instantly particularly for existing cardholders. Based on my experience, the card number will be visible in your app once approved, and you can use the number to register for the promo above.
This promo pairs very nicely with DBS yuu’s princely 17.5% rebate and DBS Takashimaya’s generous S$150 sign-up offer even for existing cardholders.
