Excellent Deal: Get S$400 or Choice of Gadgets With HSBC Live+!
The HSBC Live+ isn’t even a week old yet, and here we have an excellent sign-up promo – get S$300 in e-vouchers or a choice of gifts retailing for as much as S$699! Whichever you choose, you also get S$100 cashback from the bank. It’s a very generous for new HSBC cardholders, with a minimum spend of just S$500.
If you are an existing cardholder, there is still a S$50 promo with S$500 minimum spend. It’s obviously not as generous as the new cardholder deal, but it’s quite like extra cashback on top of HSBC Live+’s 8% cashback. Even if you already have an HSBC card, definitely also take a look at TravelOne’s upsized promo which works for existing cardholders.

Getting your card approved mid-quarter
HSBC Live+ requires spending S$600 per month for at least 3 months within a calendar quarter (e.g. July, August, September).
If your card is approved in June – that is, the middle of a quarter and there are no full 3 months – the bank has a provision that allows new cardholders to spend just S$1,000 to qualify for the entire quarter’s spend requirement to get 8% cashback (as long as the spend is posted within the quarter).
This also means that if your card is approved in June 2024, you could potentially spend anywhere from S$1,000 to S$3,125 (on eligible MCCs, that is) and get 8% on the entire amount for the Q2 of 2024 (i.e. March to June 2024). Note that your spend needs to be posted within June to qualify.
Given that June is already ending, this is entirely optional and you can always get your card in June and start from July instead. Personally, I’d try putting about S$1,000 spend on it if my card comes early. In this case, if it bounces over to July, it can be part of my Q3 spending.
Alternate Promo: HSBC Advance
If you want a different set of sign-up rewards, you can consider the HSBC Advance:
Works for existing HSBC cardholders: HSBC TravelOne
If you already have one of the other HSBC cards (e.g. Revolution, Advance, Platinum Visa etc.), you can still qualify for the HSBC TravelOne’s promo as long as you are new to the TravelOne card (do not own the TravelOne or cancel any in the past 12 months). Check out the promo here.
What to spend on?
You need to meet the minimum spend to qualify for rewards. Do note that there are transactions which are excluded. Read the terms and conditions carefully when applying.
Generally, retail transactions like buying stuff or dining out are very safe. Things like bill payments, education expenses and CardUp or ipaymy become a lot iffier and depends on the bank your card is from.
